Bushcraft Meets at Walker Brow Wood
Date of meet you're attending:
Walker Brow Wood is our leased private woodland site on the edge of the Peak District near Whaley Bridge. Our site is available for all of our bushcraft and wilderness courses as well as private tailored sessions. We also organise meets for bushcrafters at the site when there are no courses or forest operations happening.

Meets are advertised through our Facebook group and Bushcraft UK Forum. Registering an interest on on either site will allow us to ensure that we do not over sell any particular date. As this web page is not publicly searchable, you’ve already probably come from one of the 2 locations.

Our wood is approx 8 acres of mainly sycamore and birch, set in the remains of an old gritstone quarry. The site has large cliffs and a number of flat bays making ideal camping spots. There is plenty of shelter and the site is not immediately overlooked by any other properties. We have gated parking at the access point for visitors (200m from camp) but you can drive right up to the main camp for dropping off kit. Please return vehicle to the bottom of the site once unloaded. For those with mobility problems, there is a parking spot reserved at the camp, please ask for details.

Location Details PDF
Please note that the nearest postcode to us, SK237DR, is not our property and is not the exact entry location. Please read the description in the link above.

The site boasts a few home comforts for our courses which the meet attendees are welcome to use.
Stand up urinal
Long drop unisex toilet in wooden shed (bring own paper)
Camp fire circles
Log bench seating
Parachute and tarp shelters permanently on site
Water butt (use at own risk!)

Site Rules PDF
Do actually read them as you will be asked to leave if breaking them.

The site would suit all comers from hammocks to tents and natural shelter aficionados. There are no other services on site and a meet is likely to be entirely unsupervised / chaperoned. First aid kits should be brought by all who attend a camp. There will always be a contact number for any problems if I can’t personally be at the site but the owner or a member of my staff team do drop by regularly.

Advertised meets are £10 per person and cover Friday afternoon to Sunday dinner time. Due to the busy nature of our lives here we ask that all visits to the woods are paid for up front using PayPal. For those not in the know, PayPal is a payment host a bit like paying for goods from an internet shop using a debit or credit card. There is NO requirement to create any accounts at all, just click the payment link here and it will take you 2 minutes to book your spot. We will refund anyone who cancels up to the date of the visit.

A yearly membership runs from 1st Jan to 31st Dec and is £150 for virtually unrestricted access. You should contact Pete for a chat or ask in the Facebook group about becoming a Friend of the Walker Brow Wood.
